Through this ongoing series, we want to share theological resources that have helped us grow in knowledge and understanding of the Lord, and appreciation for our shared Christian faith through the wider body of Christ. Whether blog posts, music, books, podcasts, visual art, etc., we hope that you can discover new sources of edification and encouragement.
Today we want to put the spotlight on a few of the Christian blogs that have, in one way or another, encouraged us!
This blog by Kevin Halloran has resources and practical application for the Christian walk. This is how the blog is described:
"The purpose of my writing and blogging is to encourage, equip, and empower you to live a Bible-saturated, gospel-centered, Christ-exalting life. I’m no expert at this—just a pilgrim on a journey to the celestial city trying to please his Lord. I do this by sharing: - Scriptural insights for faithful living, - Thoughts about our amazing (and troubling) world through the lens of Scripture, - Resources and articles from the web."
This is the blog of Dr. Andreas Kostenberger, Senior Research Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminar; be ready to do some good thinking when you visit. The tagline is: Longing to See All the World Rest on Biblical Foundations, and this is how the blog is described:
"The purpose of Biblical Foundations is to help equip you as you live out your faith in today’s world."
This is the blog of the publisher, Crossway (responsible for the ESV translation of the Bible). You'll likely find posts by their authors and excerpts from their books. Here is more about them:
"The purpose of Crossway has been, from its founding as a not-for-profit ministry in 1938, to publish gospel-centered, Bible-centered content that will honor our Savior and serve his Church. We seek to help people understand the massive implications of the gospel and the truth of God’s Word, for all of life, for all eternity, and for the glory of God."
You'll likely find devotional, practical, or church life posts. This is how the blog is described:
"For The Church exists to engage, encourage, and equip the Church with gospel-centered resources that are pastoral, practical, and devotional."
Along with a mix of posts typically on doctrine, theology, or Christian living, you'll find daily writing that walks through Bible passages. This is how the ministry is described:
"At God-Centered Life Ministries, our passion is the Gospel, our vision is a generation living for God, and our mission is to engage culture, train churches, and reach colleges, all for his glory."
Find posts here on interpretation and hermeneutics. The tagline of the blog is, Helping Ordinary People Learn to Study the Bible, and this is how it is described further:
"I write about anything having to do with the Bible. Some posts are Bible studies, giving you examples to follow. Other posts discuss methods for Bible study. Yet other posts present ideas for leading Bible study discussions. Along the way, I’ll refer you to other websites that are doing a good job of it, too."
